Appiano – largest wine growing community in South Tyrol
Appiano is actually not a town on its own. It comprises 9 villages, each of which is individual and beautiful. The main village is S. Michele.
The big market community is one of the areas with the most castles in Europe, and the home of more than 200 culture-historic sites like castles, palaces, churches and chapels. Many of these culture sites can be visited during a beautiful hike. Some castles also provide the setting for concerts and theatres. Wine growing is at the centre of attention in Appiano, and the surrounding landscape is also characterised by this sector. Endless vineyards and orchards amaze visitors time and time again, just like the numerous coloured markets, entertaining celebrations and culture events, which are organised in Appiano throughout the year.
